The touring bike that handles like a sports bike Available only on the FJR1300AS, the YCC-S, or Yamaha Chip Controlled Shift is essentially a manual transmission with a computer controlled clutch. Internally, the FJR1300’s 5-speed transmission and clutch remain intact; however, we’ve added a clutch controller and electronic shift actuator all connected to a sophisticated computer to provide perfect, clutchless manual shifting in any situation. YCC-S eliminates the need to operate the clutch, and puts more emphasis on the enjoyment of the ride, particularly in stop/start traffic or on long trips. The system responds quickly to the rider’s commands and is designed to be unobtrusive. The YCC-S system is state of the art technology, and provides a riding experience like no other motorcycle on the market specially developed by Yamaha, the system employs an electronically controlled clutch-less shifting device that uses a dedicated ECU to deliver quick, perfect shifts every time. It’s up to you whether you shift using the handlebarmounted switch or foot lever. But you won’t need to operate a clutch with either. Adjustable cockpit: Outstanding rider comfort through a wide range of cockpit adjustability, including seat height, windscreen height, fairing, handlebar sweep angle and of course suspension can all be refined to tailor your touring experience. FJR power: This legendary engine is a fully stressed chassis member and features compact stacked, tri-axis gearbox shafts to minimise size and optimise weight distribution. It utilises forged pistons, carburised connecting rods, electroplated ceramic composite cylinder bores and a four-into-one-into-two stainless steel exhaust system. Unified ABS brakes: The linked braking system with ABS ensures controlled stopping by applying a measured amount of front brake when the rear is applied. The front brake lever activates six of the eight front braking pistons and two rear pistons; the rear brake pedal activates two rear pistons and the other two front pistons - balanced braking under all conditions. Air Management System: The FJR’s sophisticated Air Management System has two main elements: the first (Heat Management System) is designed to direct hot air away from the rider and motorcycle. The second (Rider Airflow Management System) directs cool air around the rider, making for a more comfortable ride at speed.
